The recent spell of hot, dry weather has left Telscombe Tye exceptionally dry, significantly increasing the risk of grass and vegetation fires.
Telscombe Town Council is taking steps to help reduce this risk. A firebreak has been agreed for where the Tye borders neighbouring properties, and will be cut at the earliest appropriate opportunity following the end of the bird nesting season.
In the meantime, we are asking everyone who visits the Tye to help protect this important open space by taking extra care.
Please:
Even a small spark can quickly develop into a serious grass fire in the current conditions, putting wildlife, nearby homes and members of the public at risk.
We appreciate everyone’s cooperation in helping to keep Telscombe Tye safe during this period of increased fire risk.
