Councillor Vacancies To Be Filled By Co-option

Town Councillor Vacancies – Make a Difference in Your Community!

Are you passionate about your community? Do you want to have a say in local decisions and help shape the future of our town?

Following an uncontested election in May 2023, Telscombe Town Council still has 2 ordinary vacancies in the Telscombe Cliffs ward and we’re inviting applications from local residents who would like to be co-opted onto Telscombe Town Council.

Being a Councillor is a rewarding opportunity to get involved, represent local people, and help improve the area where you live. No previous experience is necessary – just a willingness to listen, work with others, and make a positive contribution to your community.

To fulfil the role, you need to be available to attend Council and Committee meetings every other month, apart from the Planning & Highways Committee which meets once every 3 weeks and get involved in Council events.  If you would like to know more about the role, please contact the Town Council offices.

Whether you’re passionate about community events, local services, green spaces, planning, or youth initiatives – your voice matters. We invite applications from candidates who satisfy the eligibility for being a Councillor as listed in the Policy and the competencies listed in the person specification.

If you are interested in serving as a Town Councillor, please complete and return a completed application to the Town Clerk at Telscombe Civic Centre, 360 South Coast Road, Telscombe Cliffs, East Sussex, BN10 7ES or via email to stella.newman@telscombetowncouncil.gov.uk.    Applications will be treated in the strictest confidence.

The closing date for applications is 5pm on Monday 18th August 2025.  Candidates will be invited to speak at the Full Council meeting to be held on Wednesday 17th September 2025, after which a vote by Councillors will take place.    Your term of office will end in May 2027.
