At the end of September, a resident contacted the police to advise that there were poachers on the Tye. A response unit attended and found the suspects, complete with rabbiting nets. With advice from the Rural Crime team, the officers were able to seize their nets (as the Game Act 1830 allows) and sent them on their way. In this case, it was more effective to seize their equipment, which will not be returned to them, rather than pursue this through the courts. Fortunately they had not caught any rabbits.
Thank you to the resident for reporting this to the police, and to the police for their swift action.
If you see any illegal activities on the Tye, please do not hesitate to report it to the police on 101 or via their website, or call 999 if it is an emergency.
