The Mayor, Cllr Isobel Sharkey, has chosen 'The Environment' as her fundraising them this year. She will invite local groups, charities and schools to apply for money to go towards projects that fit within her theme, i.e., nature, upcycling, recycling & active travel. Payments made will be listed here at the end of her term of office in May 2026.
Cllr O'Connors theme for fundraising this year was again children's mental health and he made the following payments from his fundraising events:- Saltdean and Rottingdean Youth Club £1,150, PCS School £332.49 for mental health ambassadors' toolkit, Telscombe Academy £3,000 to support & mentor children's mental health and £380 to Saltdean Surf & Swim Club for a swim platform. From his Mayor's allowance he purchased food for a Christmas morning event held at the Civic Centre which was open for all residents to attend.
Cllr O'Connor's theme for his fundraising events is children's mental health. He made the following payments from his fundraising during his term of office:- PCS School for a young carer's event £950, Telscombe Academy for children's bereavement counselling £1,500, Saltdean Surf & Swim club £1,140 for children's surf therapy sessions and Saltdean Primary School £1,045 for counselling. He also donated £1,000 of his Mayor's allowance to the Saltdean Surf & Swim club for a surf lifesaving board.
Cllr Judd has donated all of his Mayor's allowance of £1,500 to Kempton House Day Centre. He has also made a payment from his Mayor's fundraising of £3,000 to Boomerang Kids in Saltdean, £1,100 to the SCDA foodbank and £1,100 to the CTLA in Newhaven.
Cllr Judd was Mayor for the year 2021/22 and was appointed again as Mayor for 2022/23. He therefore decided not to make any payments from his 2021/22 year fundraising and to carry it forward to the next financial year. He did, however, donate most of his Mayor's allowance as follows:- CTLA £1,000 and Seahaven Food Bank £271.
The Mayor of Telscombe for 2020/21, Cllr Isobel Sharkey, could not undertake any fundraising during her term of office due to Covid lockdown and restrictions. She did, however, donate £1,423 from her Mayor's allowance equally between both Kempton House Day Centre and the Lewes Citizens Advice.
The Mayor of Telscombe for 2019/20, Cllr Isobel Sharkey, raised £2,695 which was split equally between her nominated charities:- Autism, Sussex; City Cat Shelter; The House Project and Project Artworks. She also donated £1,000 from her Mayor's allowance to the Seahaven Food Bank.
The Mayor of Telscombe for 2018/19, Cllr Daryll Brindley, raised the following for his nominated charities:- The Rotary Club £1,834.00, The Deans Senior Tea Club £1,834.00 and The Royal Sussex County Hospital Maternity Bereavement Suite £1,000.00.
The Mayor of Telscombe for 2017/18, Cllr Joanna Wilkins, raised £4,450 which was shared equally between her nominated charities:- Raystede, WRAS (Wildlife Rescue Ambulance Service), Sussex Horse Rescue, Cat Welfare Sussex and Seaford Downs Syndrome & Special Needs Support Group.
